Carl grew up in the industry and ski racing. He raced from 5 to 26 years of age and coached for six years with the Western PA Racing Club.
He grew up in rural Western Pennsylvania riding motorcycles in the summer and ski racing in the winter. From his father he learned how to fix motorcycles, cars and helped to build their house along with other summer construction jobs.
Carl knew of CTEC and Jan Leonard though his father, Lars, who had the first CTEC lift installed at Seven Springs, PA in 1977. Carl was hired as a laborer to build lifts in in 1993. This is where early on he met Dave Metivier and Alan Hepner and when he knew them as “the big time construction installers”.
Side note: Jan Leonard also hired Carl’s future wife, Brandy as a project manager. Brandy moved up to manage the construction department for Garaventa CTEC and became Carl’s boss.
After two years, Carl became a Construction Supervisor, then the Rocky Mountain Sales Manager for the next 8 years. When Doppelmayr merged with CTEC, Carl became Production Manager from 2005-2009 and then VP of Operations 2009-2010. In March of 2010, he became the GM and a Partner of Skytrac Lifts.
Carl fly fishes, mountain and road bikes, and has a classic ski boat that he enjoys using with his family.
